second-domain

so i kinda got really invested into this self hosting hobby and decided to get a second domain. my whole reasoning behind this was to keep local hosting on one domain and cloud hosting on another domain. funnily enough, i decided to go with the tld .cloud for my second domain. this way i can put all my cloud hosted services onto that second domain. i think it looks cleaner as well, and has better defined services on where they are hosted.

i know i went with cloudflare for my first domain, but for this second one i wanted a cheap first year price, so none other than porkbun. this was the obvious choice, and there is great things i have seen and heard from them. it was short lived as i transferred the domain dns servers to cloudflare so i can take advantage of their zero trust infrastructure. the setup was very easy and i was surprised that the dns switchover took a few minutes.

because of this, i can utilize their cloudflared tunnels and expose my cloud hosted services through their proxy servers. with this second domain, i also made a new zoho account and got my own custom emails with this domain. in zoho you can manage many domains within the same account, but i kept this separate as i wanted to stay within the free tier and get five separate mailboxes.

preserve the moment.
